Yes! SPC vinyl flooring is made up of four layers, including a top transparent coating (the wear layer) that makes it scratch and stain resistant.

Our SPC vinyl floors collections strong ratings emphasize its durability, and suitability for various environments. Therefore, you can expect resistance to normal scratches and scuffs that may be caused by shoes, heels, pets, among others.

Stone Plastic Composite (SPC) vinyl, is a type of rigid core flooring known for its durability and resilience. It’s constructed from a combination of PVC, and limestone.

This composition creates a solid, dense core that offers enhanced stability and resistance to impacts, scratches, and moisture.

Unlike traditional sheet vinyl flooring, and LVP flooring, SPC vinyl floors are made from virgin raw materials, ensuring a higher level of quality and performance suitable for any type of residential property located in Florida.

Beyond living rooms and bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, and basements are among the high-traffic areas and damp regions where SPC flooring works perfectly.

When comparing LVP (Luxury Vinyl Plank) and SPC (Stone-Plastic Composite) flooring, here are the key differences:

Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP):

  1. Made of PVC (polyvinyl chloride) layers.
  2. Softer underfoot compared to SPC.
  3. Thicker than SPC.
  4. Good for residential use.
  5. Can be affected by temperature changes.

Stone-Plastic Composite (SPC):

  1. Made of a Stone-Plastic Composite core.
  2. Extremely durable and rigid.
  3. Ideal for high-traffic areas.
  4. 100% waterproof.
  5. Resistant to temperature changes.

For properties in Florida, where humidity can be a concern, SPC flooring is a great choice due to its waterproof and durable nature.

If you’re looking for a flooring option that can withstand Florida’s climate, SPC would be a fantastic choice.

Some vinyl flooring products can emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs) like dioxins and phthalates, which are harmful to human health. These chemicals can cause respiratory issues and other health problems.

To minimize these risks, Bright Flooring Designers always recommend and install SPC flooring that is certified for low VOC emissions and free from harmful chemicals.

Low VOC Emissions: SPC vinyl flooring is designed to be environmentally friendly, with many products made from low-emitting materials that can help earn LEED certification for your home.

No Presence of Hazardous Compounds: SPC flooring is free from harmful substances like formaldehyde, heavy metals, phthalates, and methanol. This guarantees the safety of the flooring for both the environment and human health.

The lack of these harmful chemicals makes SPC flooring an ideal choice for individuals seeking to reduce their environmental footprint.

1. Recyclable Materials: Crafted from natural limestone powder and raw PVC resin, SPC flooring promotes waste reduction and material recycling.

2. Minimal Waste and Emissions: Efficient manufacturing techniques result in minimal waste and emissions, supporting a greener future.

3. Low VOC Emissions: Engineered to emit low levels of VOCs, SPC flooring enhances indoor air quality and promotes healthier living spaces.

4. Absence of Harmful Chemicals: Free from harmful substances like formaldehyde and heavy metals, SPC flooring ensures safety for both the environment and human health.

5. Durability and Longevity: With its durable construction and extended lifespan, SPC flooring minimizes environmental impact by reducing the need for frequent replacements.

FloorScore® stands as the premier certification standard for assessing indoor air quality (IAQ) in hard surface flooring materials, adhesives, and underlayments. Developed in partnership with the Resilient Floor Covering Institute (RFCI), a prominent trade association representing flooring manufacturers and suppliers, FloorScore® is recognized as the gold standard by industry professionals and consumers alike.

Vinyl flooring, especially our SPC In-House collections, is an excellent choice for soundproofing when paired with premium underlayment padding like IXPE or EVA.

Understanding IIC and STC Ratings:

1. Impact Insulation Class (IIC) measures impact noise reduction (footsteps, dropped objects) and is tested by ASTM E492/E989 standards.

2. Sound Transmission Class (STC) measures airborne noise blocking (voices, music) and is tested by ASTM E336/E413 standards.

Importance of Ratings:

1. Noise Reduction: Higher IIC and STC ratings mean better soundproofing, crucial for peaceful living in multi-family buildings.

2. Compliance: Many HOAs and building codes mandate specific ratings to ensure adequate sound insulation, avoiding noise complaints and potential fines.

The Florida Building Code requires a minimum IIC rating of 50 and a minimum STC rating of 50 for floor/ceiling assemblies in multi-family residential buildings like condos and apartments.

Our vinyl flooring collections exceeds Florida’s Building Code. While the specific requirements can vary between condo associations, you need to check with your HOA.

For example Miami’s HOAs have higher standards, often requiring IIC ratings of 70 or higher and STC ratings exceeding 50. To meet or exceed these private and particular standards, we recommend considering additional soundproofing products like Whisper Mat® LVT, which can be included in your estimate so you can get your HOA’s remodel application approval.

First, all dirt and dust from the flooring must be removed with a brush or vacuum cleaner. Then clean with water and a PH neutral appropriate cleaning agent, at least twice per application.

We strongly recommend using vinyl Planks cleaning products, or just water and a vinegar-diluted solution to reduce its acidic substance level.

Any other cleaning product may contain agents that damage resilient floor surfaces. The coating of our SPC vinyl top layer makes a specific cleaning treatment after installation unnecessary.

We strongly recommend avoid cleaning with wax or wax-based products. Please observe our recommendations for the vinegar. Using undiluted vinegar or vinegar solutions that are too acidic can potentially damage or dull the protective coating/finish on vinyl floors over time.

For routine maintenance, it’s best to sweep or vacuum daily, especially in high-traffic areas or where pets roam. Plan to mop on a weekly basis, or more frequently if spills occur:

If you like to plan in advanced, consider the following cleaning schedule:

1. Daily Cleaning: sweep or vacuum daily to eliminate loose dirt, dust, and debris, preventing surface scratches from particles. Promptly address spills to prevent staining.

2. Weekly Cleaning: use a well-wrung mop and a pH-neutral, vinyl-safe floor cleaner for weekly mopping. Be cautious not to use excessive water that could penetrate seams.

3. Deep Cleaning: Schedule a deeper cleaning monthly or quarterly, depending on foot traffic and soil accumulation levels.

** Deep cleaning involves mopping with a vinyl floor cleaner solution to remove ingrained dirt and grime that regular cleaning can’t tackle.
